Vice President, Digital Learning
An exceptional career opportunity for a results-driven digital learning leader, a dynamic relationship builder with the ability to facilitate cross-functional
project execution, and the strategic acumen to navigate
the educational landscape in the interests of learners
As the Government of Ontario’s partner in digital learning, TVO’s vision is to create a better world through the power of learning. Rooted in the Ontario Education curriculum, TVO’s powerful learning products and services help build an Ontario that can adapt, innovate and compete globally. The organization’s in-depth current affairs journalism from an Ontario perspective supports citizen engagement and a more robust democracy. TVO is funded primarily by the Province of Ontario and is a registered charity supported by sponsors and thousand of donors.
This is a truly exciting time to join TVO on a path of transformational change and, as Vice President, Digital Learning, drive forward critical pillars of its strategic directions. TVO is at the onset of its new Strategic Plan and the new VP will have the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse Executive and leadership team to develop innovative, evidence-informed content, products and services to improve outcomes and well-being for all ages of learners, across the province of Ontario. If you thrive in a changing environment where innovation produces real impact for learners, and welcome the opportunity to grow an empowered team, promote an agile environment and break through silos, this role is for you.
Reporting to the CEO, you will model, lead and support a positive, collaborative and outcome-focused culture that embraces change, while demonstrating TVO’s values. As VP of Digital Learning, you will grow TVO’s role as the Ontario government’s non-school board delivery and innovation partner for digital learning – both inside and outside the classroom. You will develop and implement digital learning resources across all platforms, aligned with the curriculum and leveraging changes in digital technology, develop and maintain relationships with key education partners, and champion the virtuous cycle made possible reaching outside the province to monetize content TVO already creates.
A proactive, credible and dynamic professional with deep knowledge of pedagogy, learning and teaching strategies supported by technology, you will develop TVO as a leader of resources to support digitally-enabled blended learning pedagogy, and ensure the educational integrity of the TVO Kids broadcast and online activities. You will partner with the VP of Revenue, Product Development and Marketing to integrate and grow TVO’s product offerings for learners in Ontario and in international markets, and with all members of the Executive Team to bring new products to market and ensure that all product offerings meet organizational objectives.
TVO will also rely on you to participate in the development and implementation of corporate strategy, objectives and policies, promote effectiveness through clear, timely and transparent communication, lead your team to achieve high standards of individual and team performance, and contribute to a values-based culture of learning, creativity and innovation.
This is a mandate for an entrepreneurial, education visionary with strong business acumen, fluency with digital technology, strategic agility, flexibility and an execution orientation, and 10 years of experience as an educational leader in a school board with a focus on teaching and learning, or other relevant and equivalent educational experience. Your strong understanding of learning sciences and the application of research and evidence to improve student outcomes is combined with experience leading people and a proven ability to inspire confidence, lead by example, and communicate clear roles and expectations.
Adept at working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, creative and technical leaders and employees, you’re well prepared to deal with ambiguity and lead in a complex environment. Above all, you model TVO’s values of Excellence & Innovation, Ownership, Collaboration, Trust and Respect, and are driven by the desire to make a difference in the lives of Ontarians through TVO, a mission-based organization.
TVO is an equal opportunity employer and will endeavor to accommodate job applications with disabilities through the People & Culture Division. Upon request, all job postings will be made available in alternative format.
TVO is committed to achieve a skilled workforce reflective of the population of Ontario.
