TVO is embarking upon an ambitious long-term strategy to grow our role as Ontario’s delivery and innovation partner for digital education inside and outside the classroom. These products include Kids TV, Kids Online (that includes games and apps), Homework Help, the Independent Learning Centre (ILC), GED and TeachOntario - TVO’s online platform for sharing, collaboration and knowledge exchange amongst educators across Ontario.  

 

Overview:

 

This position is accountable for building relationships and sharing TVO’s wide array of quality digital products with the K-12 educational community.

 

With a passion for education and customer service, this role ensures that TVO's mPower, Homework Help, and Teach Ontario customers are supported with timely and accurate information to successfully use these resources as teaching and learning tools inside and outside the classroom. The role is focused on supporting the delivery of data-driven, creative and engaging outreach. This will include online and personal presentations, conferences, networking and other engagement strategies.

 

The ideal candidate is familiar with the Ontario educational landscape, is able to share their knowledge of the trends and opportunities within and outside the education system, and contributes to TVO’s reputation as a leader in the field of digital learning and global competencies. The ideal candidate must have an awareness of the primary/ junior and intermediate math concepts and current strategies.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Actively contribute to increasing awareness and adoption of TVO’s digital products to support learning inside and outside classroom
  • Actively contribute to TVO’s outreach strategy amongst varied partners including Ontario’s educational community, the tech sector and the Ministry of Education
  • Provide excellent customer service by supporting educators via telephone, TeachOntario and email using the CRM system and face-to-face
  • Enter data and maintain the CRM to track Digital Learning resources activity
  • Identify trends in technological and pedagogical issues through feedback
  • Liaise  with existing educational partnerships to nurture the success and growth of TVO's  Digital Learning products and services in the market
  • Coordinate the administrative services across the department with an eye to identifying opportunities to create efficiencies

Provide logistical support to the Educational Partnership team for all outreach initiatives

  • Coordinate and manage the annual conference and outreach calendar for the K-12 Outreach Team, consult with team members to research and filter potential outreach activities before presenting to Management
  • Craft first drafts of all conference proposal templates and submit them for approval prior to their due date
  • Draft and submit for approval all Travel Request forms for individuals traveling to conferences
  • Draft and submit for approval contracts for outreach ambassadors
  • Arrange face-to-face education and community outreach opportunities with prospective organizations
  • Liaise with Marketing, Communications and other departments within TVO (and external) to create briefs, collateral, and project plans
  • Work with leaders to facilitate outreach activities across the K-12 educational community, including with school districts, federations, affiliations and employee group partners, EDU, and Faculties of Education
  • Collaborate in promoting TVO and TVO’s K-12 digital products and services in targeted professional learning sessions across the province
  • Drive the registration and usage of all TVO K-12 Digital Learning products and services by enthusiastically engaging contacts in the educational and broader sector
  • Maintain working knowledge and understanding of current strategies for teaching mathematics particularly in the primary/junior grades
  • Anticipate, coordinate and research material in preparation for presentations or events, and provide support on webinars
  • Plan, develop, track and report on metrics to establish the impact and efficacy of outreach efforts
  • Provide a contact point for external clients to access support and information on projects
  • Contact educators and community organizations to publicize and provide information regarding TVO’s Digital Learning’s products and services, K-12
  • Prepare and deliver reports for internal stakeholders & Ministry representatives
  • Be the resource for activities around learning systems and new initiatives
  • Engage and communicate with users through Social Media: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube
  • Craft articles, emails, and other communications to engage users and drive usage

Qualifications:

  • Post Secondary degree
  • Bachelor of Education or Early Childhood Education Diploma considered an asset
  • A member of Ontario College of Teachers in good standing an asset
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with experience managing the logistics of multiple projects with competing priorities
  • Proven customer service experience
  • Experience working with a Customer Relational Management system or databases, for handling of contacts
  • A multi-tasker with experience in prioritizing work and managing time efficiently
  • Excellent communication skills with experience and a comfort level representing the organization at outreach events
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships internally and externally

Scope:

 

The Media Researcher for Education is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and clearing rights for visual elements for TVO's Independent Learning Centre (ILC) programs/ module/ courses across all media platforms and according to business needs and set standards.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Research, screen and evaluate the suitability of, and obtain multimedia, photographic and video material for programming, publications and promotional purposes as required by internal and external stakeholders
  • Confer with internal clients about requirements, costs, and deadlines
  • Negotiate rates with external agencies and clear rights for the use of video clips, images, and stills in adherence to production budgets
  • Research and obtain copyright clearance for visual material and provide general guidance to staff on copyright law and related procedures
  • Record copyright clearances for visual material and prepare required documents for approval
  • Describe, maintain and index content in the Digital Asset Management System (DAM)
  • Enter new and edit existing metadata consistently and in a timely manner based on user needs, TVO policies, and industry standards to support searches, promote accessibility, and content repurposing according to business objectives
  • Conduct research to enhance content descriptors, captured as meta-data in the (DAM), for particularly rare and/or high profile content
  • Assist (internal and external) stakeholders with searches and provide training and support to end users of the DAM
  • Develop intimate familiarity with TVO's collection to facilitate searches
  • Assist with special projects as required

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated 3-4 years’ experience in visual research and copyright clearance (i.e. stock footage/stills, multimedia, or print material) in a digital and/or print education environment preferred
  • 2-3 years' experience working with cataloging material and creating metadata to support searches and accessibility
  • Post-secondary education certification or 3+ years of experience in a related field
  • Experience working with digital asset management system, and must be fluent with a wide variety of analog and digital formats
  • Experience working in a media environment with a digital, file-based workflow
  • Bilingual in written and spoken English and French
  • Solid organizational and time management skills and experience working well under deadline pressure

  • Steward the TVO Archive in alignment with TVO’s educational mandate and in accordance with Media Archive Policy and the Record Keeping Act. 
  • Preserve, curate and provide access to TVO’s historical media where feasible, and ensure the appropriate preservation of today’s content (video, audio, games, apps, web-exclusives, info-graphics, etc.) for future generations
  • Be a resident expert on, and champion for, the TVO collection of media and content
  • Develop, communicate, implement and oversee policies, procedures and best practices
  • Manage relationships and contracts with relevant third parties related to the quality, storage, and processing of TVO media, including (but not limited to) offsite storage, external transfer and dubbing houses, secure disposal and blank media suppliers
  • Be a resident expert user of the North Plains Telescope Digital Asset Management System in order to effectively manage TVO’s media assets, meet immediate and long term needs, and to help plan for the incorporation of new business objectives
  • Stay current with innovation, opportunities and best practices as it relates to managing media assets

Qualifications:

  • University degree in a specialized field (such as Library & Information Sciences)
  • 5- 8 years related work experience

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee the Enterprise Media Management Department which is responsible for the secure and effective processing, storage, retrieval, retention and destruction of media assets and associated metadata for TVO; and for the provision of visual research and copyright clearance services for internal clients
  • Oversee the Facilities Department which is responsible for facilities management at 2180 Yonge Street and the warehouse, occupant services, workplace safety and security, vehicle fleet and mobile devices
  • Manage contracts and asset administration services including TVO’s asset inventory (hardware and software) from purchase through to disposal, administering contracts for maintenance/support, services, facilities and partnerships, and software license compliance

Scope:

 

TVO's Independent Learning Centre (ILC) is embarking on Course Conversion, an ambitious project to take print content and make it engaging and interactive online courses. The project will involve an intensive effort to move English and French course materials from an in-house proprietary system into Adobe Captivate 9, and into a print format using Adobe InDesign. Team members will use pedagogical, technological, and instructional design solutions to ensure that each outcome is an engaging, interactive experience that supports student achievement.

 

This role is responsible for ensuring the successful formatting of materials within the Course Conversion project. Using existing processes and templates, the Graphic Formatting Specialist will work in collaboration with a cross functional team of subject matter experts. Using current technology and best practices, courses will be built to meet the requirements of the Ontario Ministry of Education’s course curriculum and contribute to the quality of the learning experience and the overall success of learners. Educational elements include video, audio, interactive digital components, and other digital learning tools. The goal is to produce courses that successfully use the independent study model in order to achieve student success

 

The Graphic Formatting Specialist will work in close collaboration with the Manager, Course Delivery, as well as the broader TVO team. The courses will be created and completed in adherence to a strict timeline in both digital and print formats for English and French versions of high school credit courses.

 

Fundamental to the position will be the use of Adobe Captivate and InDesign. These positions ensure that each course is designed to flow effectively and seamlessly from start to finish.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Adheres to layout models, arranges text, images, and other visual elements using a range of applications for page layout online and in print, to produce educational materials that deliver student engagement in the 21st century
  • Collaborates with all other ILC roles to produce student centric courses on time

 

Qualifications:

 

  • College diploma in graphic communications, graphic design, computer science, information technology, business or other related program is preferred
  • Experience working with publishing software such as: Adobe Captivate, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, math equation software and graphing software
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Word, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and Flash
  • Knowledge of, and experience in the graphic design process as it related to accessibility and, end-user experience
  • Experience designing education materials in a team environment
  • Knowledge of a variety of online course presentation models
